Apr 2016 | Amazing Auditions

In February we put out an open call for exceptional and experienced dancers to join Company Chameleon for the creation of our newest production. Auditions followed in March with people selected from a record number of 200 applicants.

Thanks to dance being such an international language, we welcomed dancers from across the world to the audition. People travelled from the UK, USA, Italy, France, Holland, Germany, South Africa, Slovenia, Switzerland, Australia and the Czech Republic.

The audition process took place over two days in London, and incorporated warm up, learning of movement sequences, improvisation, speaking elements and creative thinking, alongside a more formal interview. The standard was exceptionally high with 40 applicants remaining in contention even after shortlisting!

After several days of careful consideration four dancers – Margarida Macieira, Helen Andrew, David Colley and Alexander Evens – were invited to join the Company Chameleon team. We are thrilled with the success of the auditions and we look forward to working with the new recruits over the coming months on the creation of our new work.

Talking about the auditions, Kevin Edward Turner, co-Artistic Director, said: “It was fantastic to welcome such a high number of dancers from around the world to audition with us in London. Thanks to everyone who applied and for expressing an interest in our work and becoming part of the company.” Sign up to our newsletter to find out about future recruitment opportunities at Company Chameleon, along with the latest announcements on our new work to premiere in Autumn 2016.
