Apr 2016 | Big Desire to Dance?

Company Chameleon is calling out for young people, age 11 to 18, to join Chameleon Youth, its new youth dance company for Manchester.

What’s required is a positive attitude, loads of enthusiasm and, most importantly, a big desire to dance and be creative.

Dance experience is by no means essential – the company is looking for a mix of abilities.

This is an opportunity to…

  • Develop your dance skills through an exceptional programme of classes
  • Understand the workings of a professional dance theatre company
  • Learn about producing professional dance theatre for stage
  • Take part in a wide-range of performance opportunities

Style: Company Chameleon’s style is a real mix of techniques, which means you’ll develop a strong palette of approaches to dance and movement.

Music: Where there’s dance, there’s music and the playlist is varied too – pop, hip-hop, rap, classical and everything in between.

Progress: As young people progress through the company, there’ll be opportunities to make your own work and develop choreographic talents. Elements of leadership, teaching and peer-to-peer mentoring will be introduced, along with ideas on how to take your artform forward.

Since 2007, Company Chameleon has toured the world performing, working with a huge number of leading companies, choreographers and performers along the way. This tremendous amount of experience will form the bedrock of the youth company and its hands-on approach to creative development.

All in all, this is an incredible opportunity to develop as a young dance artist.
