Summer Tour 2016 Announced
Taking us to arts festivals and venues across the UK and Europe, this summer Company Chameleon will be touring four different productions in our biggest tour to date. There will be 20 performances between May and September.
From the Yorkshire Festival in Grassington to the The Big Feast in Stoke, from SibFest in Romania to MiromirO in Belgium, festival season is well and truly on its way and we’re delighted to be performing a range of outdoor and indoor performances.
Ahead of the first date at Bell Square, an exciting outdoor arts space in Hounslow, London, this weekend, Co-Artistic Director Anthony Missen takes a break from his busy rehearsal schedule to share his thoughts.
“I’m incredibly excited about what this summer holds! We have four works touring extensively throughout the UK and mainland Europe – Of Man And Beast, Hands Down, Beauty Of The Beast and Push. The demand this summer is quite astounding, and gives us confidence that the works speak to people in the way they were created to.
We’re being welcomed back by some festivals where we have performed previously, and also to many festivals in countries where our work has not been seen before. I’m delighted that we will be able to introduce and share our work so widely and to new audiences, and feel proud that this includes several dates when different works are performed in different places at the same time!
What I’m most looking forward to is sharing this time with our incredible dancers, some of the most talented and generous performers and people that you will find.
So here we go, the sweat and grind of preparation has started: rehearsals for all of the works are in full flow. This is where the hard work is, and the part that audiences don’t often get to see. This is what makes our shows what they are- we can feel it as an experience rather than a performance, and we hope you will too.”
Watch the trailer for our outdoor dance piece, Of Man And Beast, which kicks off the tour in London and will subsequently be performed in Grassington, Holmfirth and Stoke over the summer.
As with all of Company Chameleon’s work, learning and participation is an integral part of what we do. Everywhere we perform, we often lead a dance class or workshop – this tour is no different. We will be working with a range of schools and groups throughout the tour in different communities, introducing people to a different side of dance and movement. See you on tour – here’s to a great summer.
